Domaine Louis Sipp

In the heart of Alsace, France, Louis Sipp began his wine journey in the shadow of the First World War. With a pioneering grandmother, Louise, who acquired the first vineyards, and now the dedicated, Etienne, who carries on the legacy, Domaine Louis Sipp is a true family business with roots that run deep into the soil of Alsace.

Through 8 generations, Louis Sipp has been an incarnation of Alsace's wine traditions and craftsmanship. Their story begins with Louise buying the first vineyards while her husband Louis was fighting on the Eastern Front. The old vats they acquired at the time are still in use today and stand as testimony to the family's deep roots in the history of wine production.

Etienne Sipp, the current owner, made the decision to join the family business at the beginning of 1996, and with him the 4th generation entered the company. A team of 20 people work every day with a passion to express the true nature of the Ribeauvillé vineyard through their wines.

Louis Sipp's vineyards span 32 hectares, including prestigious Grand Cru areas such as Kirchberg, Geisberg and Osterberg. Their range includes classic Alsace varieties such as Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. With a philosophy of hygiene, simplicity and gentleness in wine production, they create wines that express the true character of their soil and region.

In 2005, Domaine Louis Sipp converted completely to organic farming, reflecting their commitment to creating deeply structured wines that tell the story of their terroir in the most authentic way. They strive to keep the balance between the soil and the plant and return to a rich biodiversity by practicing grass cover between the rows and around the vines and banning pesticides and herbicides.

This commitment to sustainability, reinforced by Etienne's and Martine's passion for nature, represents not only a winemaker, but a guardian of Alsace's unique landscape and heritage.
